Thanks for the recommendation. I'd heard of those pads but was unsure if they were effective. My usual process when introducing a new dog to our home is to walk him around on leash room to room and have him acclimate to all the smells and such. This new Boxer has already gotten better and is behaving less like a Frat Boy now.

The alteration is scheduled for Sunday (tomorrow) afternoon. We usually hold clinics on Sundays.

I hope to learn to navigate this forum in the future...my schedule is whacky and I am a complete luddite with technology. But I wanted to let you know what my motivation was for first jumping into this site.

Dealing with Difficult Dogs

Not for a moment do I consider myself a "Pro", so I look to many different trainers for advice and critique. You seem to have both the experience and skills that I think will be of benefit for me and my rescue pups. For example: We currently have a Cattle Dog named Roxy who was a private surrender. She'd been adopted by a family (3 young children) that had 2 other dogs. Roxy showed aggression and high energy and a local Madison "professional" dog trainer was called in to fix the problem. (I won't mention the name.)

After 1 week of evaluation by this professional, it was determined that Roxy should be "put down".

Roxy has been with us for 4 weeks and is a happy, stable member of our "pack" and is scheduled to be adopted next week.

I know my limitations. I am not taking credit for any good training or rehab with my dogs. I've learned all I know from experienced, credible trainers and I believe youse guys fit that description. I hope to further my own training (it's the people who need training...not the dogs, eh?) and I very much appreciate you welcoming me to this Community.
