Changing crates |

Hello! I have a 16 week old soft coated wheaton named Jack. He is currently being crated in a plastic Kennel Cab crate but is quickly outgrowing it. I want to
change him to a Midwest lifestages crate. Does anyone have any tips for a smooth transition to the new crate? Thanks.

Awww, hello sweet Wheaten! We just did the same thing with our 11 wk old Wheaten. The *puppy* crate only lasted a couple weeks for us. It just didn't
seem big enough and even though the larger one (from our dear departed adult Wheaten) seemed too big for a puppy, she's been keeping it dry the past few
days. Since we had the 2 crates we brought the bigger one into the family room and kept the door off for a few days so she could just wander in and out. She
seemed to like it. We'd give her toys and some treats in it. We began feeding her in that one instead of the small one. But for closed door crate times,
we continued put her in the smaller one. She is ok with the crate but does whine for a bit when you close the door. After a few days she seemed ok with the
big one and I feel better that she can really stretch out.

Thanks for your reply. How was your adult wheaton as a puppy? Mine is a little nuts and a crazy barker. We are working on his issues with a trainer and doing
the exercises in the book.

I wish I knew! We adopted him at 18 months old so this is our first time through the puppy routine. We had heard that his first family passed him on because of
his overabundance of puppy
exuberance. We were his third home (2nd home he chased the horses too much!) and he was mostly an angel for us. Our little Abby has definitely got that
terrier spunk but barking hasn't been too bad. She is quick to bark, jump and nip when she wants to play but that's really the only time. We are
working on that too. Even after just two weeks I notice a growing tendency to sit when she wants something, just like saying "Please!" Smart puppy.
