DH and I often harp on how annoying Abbey can be, and how difficult. So it's easy to forget sometimes her good behaviours.
Today a courier came to the door. Abbey ran down the hall, barked a couple of times, and jumped at the door to look out the window and see who was there. As soon as I approached the door she moved over to the side and sat without me asking to her. I held her collar, opened the door and dealt with the courier. All the while, Abbey sat very quietly waiting for me to finish.
It's hard not to compare Abbey to my last dog, who was so good in so many ways. Abbey and her are like night and day. But Montana would have charged the door and would never have sat quietly like that. She was definitely more of a guard dog. It's kind of nice having a dog who has such a sweet, innocent view of life.
Of course after the courier left, Abbey figured the package must be for her! As DH and I were gathered together opening it, she sat very quietly right next to us, watching the whole time. She definitely knows she's part of the family!
