Yesterday I was spectating at a big dog show in our area.
Novice A Obedience, three dogs made it through to the Stays - a Rott, a GSD, and a labby/pitty mix. Of the three, the mix turned in the best performance.
All three performances fraught with Nov A errors, all three doing OK till the stays. The GSD perhaps had the "best" heeling - although he heeled tracking nose down about two feet
behind handler all the way through. Mix had best heeling until handler got a bit fouled up on a right turn, she was confused so dog got confused, but the dog never stopped trying. It heeled with
attention unlike the GSD.
The GSD needed a reminder to join it's handler at some point.
We get to the Stays. Mix and Rott, stays perfect. GSD lays down on the sit stay a second before the judge says "return to your dogs."
GSD gets first place.
