Well, crud! And yayyy! (adoption update) |

The potential adopters of Placido loved him but are not sure that they really want a second dog. I really do not want Placido to get the boot again so
I'm not trying to "sell" him to folks who aren't sure. For a bit there it seemed like he might be going to a new home this weekend. I was
really trying to look at the bright side of that but am now very selfishly enjoying the bright side of it not working out.

Yes, I am definitely looking for a Golden! However, Karina....don't you live in Brazil? Shipping and handling would be a bit out of my league!
If you were closer, I would jump at the chance to adopt Placido. He's lovely and I am so sorry you are going through this ordeal. {{{{{{{ }}}}}}

I can only imagine how hard this is Karina.
And just to stick my nose where it doesn't belong...Karina, you're in Brazil now, but are you not moving to the US shortly?
Some is better than none.

Well, if I were up to shipping Placido, the in-laws of his previous owners have dibs. They know him from when they would stay here while visiting their
grandkids and they fell in love with him. I wrote his previous owners asking how serious they were about this but I have not heard back (I think they are in
the middle of a move). I am trying to get him a good home here and spare him the travel ordeal. But if they are really serious then I guess I would ship him up
there anyway.
But Cindi, I know that he would be in great hands with you. You two would be great together.

Sounds difficult, and a bit of a roller coaster.
Still hoping you can keep Placido in your life, but realize that may not be possible. If you find a landlord that will have him, he'll be as happy there as anywhere. I am NOT of the mindset that dogs can't be happy in apartments. Still, we all understand this may be out of your control. {{{}}} |

So today the family dropped by our house. They went to a brunch place nearby and dropped by the house on the way back into town (we are 40 minutes outside of
town). I think the mom wanted the dad to meet Placido (he hadn't been at the first meeting). I also think they will still come to the same conclusion -
that he is fabulous but it isn't a good time for a second dog right now.
And I had started thinking that maybe we really could work it out with him in an apartment but I did some looking online at what we can finagle and my optimism is gone again. But you never know. Maybe we will find a great place so that we can keep him with us in the apartment and know whether or not our next destination would be good for him. Tomorrow we go to the realtor and officially put the house up for sale. We spent all weekend getting it cleaned up and such. Step by step. It will all be good. We will make it so! But the roller coaster thing is not my favorite aspect...
