I keep thinking about getting another, but decided I need it to be at a certain point in my life, as the other one was. My next one will probably be a paw print or wolf...I'm thinking I'll probably get it when Lady passes in memory of her.

I have one. A blue cross with black outline, got it when I was 18...jury is still out on whether I regret it or not. I got it for the wrong reasons and it is
quite large, but my best friend got a tat in the same place on the same leg last year that was a jesus fish, so that makes us match, kinda. My last BF hated
the fact that I had a tattoo.

Got my "1"st tat when DD got her 1st at 18. She almost passed out when I hopped on the chair
. I had thought about it for a long time. It was a small butterfly on the outside
of my right ankle and was symbolic of major life changes. My family was horrified and Rene' just shook his head. Over time it faded and I got a larger
buttterfly with 2 small hearts over the original after I lost my beloved Rene. Never had any regrets and would probably add another if something really grabbed
me.

four pawprints on my right forearm in bright colors, the colors might make you think flowers until you look closely
a small ibizan on my left forearm but should have been larger I am ready for a ribbon heart in red , no outline, just on the inside of my left breast |

I have no regrets whatsoever, other than they're both on my shoulders and I can't see them! One is a eagle with a rose in his beak, and the harley bar
and shield in it's claws with hubby's name in the bar. The other is an Angel on a harley with a banner that says Mom, this is a memorial one and as I
have the extra money the cloud base will be expanded to have some other names, and possibly some other clouds around it with names. Hubby has two, my Alaska
soldier boy has one, and my bootcamp kid has 5 or 2 depending on if you look at the 4 on one arm as 4 or just one, I'm thinking he might regret that one as
he gets older LOL and he's planning another one when he's home on leave - he's addicted!!! He asked my for ideas - I told him one that says I heart
my mommy *giggle*

Linda,
I love the pawprints that appear to be flowers to the casual glance! Did you plan them that way? |

I never recovered from having my ears pierced. Once. On my 16th birthday (My Mom thought I was still too young and that pierced ears were trashy. She did
eventually forgive me. My brothers however...)
Also, my tastes have changed drastically over the course of my life and I cannot possibly imagine what I would get that I wouldn't feel I had grown out of at some later time. I do temp ones sometimes for fun.

tls0118: yeah, I kinda am thinking of one, but I'm not a spring chicken anymore, and I don't want to
put one anywhere women tend to develop wrinkles as they age.
My son calls them "Tramp Stamps" (he's 17 1/2), and my husband would literally be horrified and faint, but they'd get over it eventually. I'm thinking of a small symbol of some sort at the back of my neck, right on the hairline. I wear my hair up more than down, so it would be visible if I wanted it to be , or not. My township and husband's involvement in municipal government and politics are MOST conservative which is why I'm on the fence, and why I decided to place it there. It goes against the June Cleaver thing that goes on around here - but I've always been a renegade, so that doesn't bother me at all. Do they hurt? |

Yes, they hurt. Depending on placement, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. I nearly fell asleep when my artist was working on the outer part of my upper
arm, and there were times when I thought DH- who is tougher than I am and tougher than most, period- was going to break the chair when the artist was working
on certain regions of his ribcage. I would imagine the placement you have in mind would be fairly painful, but a good artist should be able to do something
that small and simple QUICKLY.
Tooting my own horn, I have much longer thoughts on the subject in general here. |

Nope!
I'm with Gingasgirl--my tastes in decorating, clothes, etc. change so much from time to time, that I'd probably get really tired of it and then have to go through the process of getting it removed or covered. DS has one, on his left upper arm--it's basically just a design going around the arm. I think he did that the first week he was living at college.

haha "Tramp Stamp" that's what people call lower back tattoos on girls, didn't realise it was changing to mean a tattoo anywhere.

I also have a scorpion on my left ankle, but on the outside. No regrets. I got it when I was 34-ish.

Yes, they hurt. Like CriticalCat said, I think the degree of pain depends on where they are. Mine wasn't intolerable. I'm also hugely afraid of
needles, so that certainly did not help the situation.
If you want a tattoo, H2O, you should do it. Heck, if you made it through childbirth, a little tat shouldn't be a big deal |

Erin said I can tell this funny story....
Scene: Up at Sarah's NH class, having lunch in the park with Erin, Mike, and DH. Beautiful June day. Me: "Wow, there seem to be a lot of folks here in town with visible tattoos & piercings. Is that the case or do I just not get out enough?" Erin: (Thinks a beat about the fact that I live so close to NYC. Then sizes me up correctly as a Country Mouse who *happens* to live by the Big City.): "Um, you don't get out enough." *snort, still laughing about it* None of my own, but enjoyed hearing about the tattos people have and the whats and whys. ~Claire |
