Begaul and I are staying in a balcony room-- I didn't bother asking what deck. I MUST have access to the outside, even with the patch I get a bit queasy at
sea.....
Are looking for a certain deck Toni? --I don't think you can get the Barkleigh rates without going through the Barkleigh travel agent. She did mention that the Barkleigh folks are getting a special discounted rate...... |

OK... I'm an idiot.
Don't we have to book through Barkleigh to get the seminar? That's why I'm wondering about my wife (who won't be going to the seminar) having to pay the same rate? Anyone know what the heck I'm talking about??? |

I found Judy Wheeler, the "Barkleigh Cruise Specialist" to be really helpful...great at answering any question and making the process completely
easy.

Woohoo! This is going to be quite the party!
I hear you on the clothing decisions Alix - ugh! Buy in August when summer stuff is on sale!!
Skit - I'm another seasick person. I really, really hope the patch works as well as everyone is telling me. Otherwise, if the last time was any indication I'll start to get my sea legs oh, on day 5 - just in time to leave!! |

I have never found anything as good as ginger capsules for queasiness. I'll have a bottle with me, just in case!
So you go out…I'll go on

Yeah, I probably should have warned you about that before you agreed to be my roomie!
I haven't tried the ginger capsules, but my gram used to make me eat gingersnaps. I hated gingersnaps so I could only ever choke one or two down. It did seem to take the edge off though! Don't worry, when I get motion sick I usually sleep, not throw up...just an FYI! Hopefully, between the patch, maybe Bonine the first night, and some of your capsules I'm hoping to come through relatively fine!! The Caribbean usually isn't too rough... |

Hey Lori,
The one time I was on a cruise prior to this I used the patch and it was AWESOME! Initially, I started feeling woozey the first 20 minutes or so I was on the ship (we were still docked at the time, how's that for sensitive???)--anyway, I put the patch on and kept it on for the rest of the trip and really was fine. I had a few moments here and there of "get me outside right now" but other than that, was totally cool! Highly recommend it! |

hey -don't forget to bring along sea-bands- they're accupressure bracelets that work amazingly! You can buy them on-board,too. Another trick until you
get them is to take your watch, measure three finger widths from your wrist on the inside and wear the face tight up against that spot. - I am one who can get
on any small boat, bounce in 6 foot seas, clean up after seasick people, you get the idea- but put me on a cruise ship and I can't deal-without the
bands-never tried the other stuff- I KNOW the ginger works great.

Oh my... do the other passengers know what they are in for?
BTW, S, can other passengers attend your seminars or just for we special folk? LOL ETA: Skit, we asked for the Veranda Deck balcony room.. Larry spoke to Lucy at Barkleigh, she was terrific. You know there are different seatings for dinner.... you have to ask for the one you want, early or late. I just told her that whichever one she set Sarah and the others of us up for to put us in there as well. When we cruise we do excursions off ship so we tend to take the late seating (8pm ish) and that way when we get back on board we have time to shower, relax, maybe take a walk on board or sleep a bit (not much sleeping, actually).

Toni -
I assume that only people who sign up can take the seminars themselves... This is beyond fun! Can't wait!

ETA: Skit, we asked for the Veranda Deck balcony roomNever having cruised before, is that the room to ask for if ya want balcony (I definitely do)? Judy said this ship has lots more balcony rooms than in years past, but they will go quickly. I have no idea where I want the balcony room to be. It would be cool if we were all on the same deck.
What else should I ask for when booking? |
