Hi everyone,
I brought home a 6 month old Shih Tzu last week. When I pick him up and bring him on the sofa for some petting or cuddling, he begins panting. It is the strangest thing. As soon as he goes down he stops but when he is on the sofa he is panting and starts digging into the blanket. The home I got him from did not allow him on the furniture. Could it be that he may have been punished in the past for climbing onto a sofa and my putting him on our sofa is causing anxiety? This is the only thing I can think of. Any other ideas?
I would like for him to be able to enjoy this space with me, unless he doesn't want to of course.
