Faster than I could react the cairn LAUNCHED onto Newman's face. Newman shrieked (as would I) and then screamed for a bit. The cairn immediately went back out to its owner, who had told the vet "He's not good with other dogs" but we were all so tired and focused on getting out that we didn't stop to consider Newman as "another dog." It was sort of nobody's fault and everyone's fault at the same time. I don't think it will happen again.
Newman got pretty solidly chomped about the nose, we had to glue a bit of it back together and there were 3 other punctures on the top of his nose and under it. Within 5 minutes of the glueing he was snorfling around in the corners for loose cat food... so he recovered pretty quickly. I feel guilty that I let him get bitten. He got a McDonald's hamburger and I think I have been forgiven. But still....yikes.

Glad that he's doing well...and that he got a
special treat.
