Many of you know that Henry (4.5 month old puggle) has been fighting off a cold for almost a month now (!!).  While his little body is trying to shake this
thing I want to make sure that he&#39;s staying properly hydrated, but, as they say, you can lead a pup to his water bowl, but you can&#39;t make him drink. 
Is it a bad idea to give him chicken broth?  I&#39;m sure he&#39;d be much more interested in that than plain ol&#39; H2O, but I&#39;m a little afraid of... ]]>

Clearly I spend and have spent way too much of my life in academic environments. If I hear &#39;Dr. Adfadaff&#39; anywhere outside of a medical clinic my

DH and I were in a checkout line once when the young checkout girl, upon seeing that his credit card says <span style="font-style: italic;">Dr</span>. DH,
said, &quot;You&#39;re too young to be a doctor, aren&#39;t you?&quot; DH tried to politely explain that he&#39;s not a physician, a medical doctor, but rather
a PhD -- &quot;It just means I was in school for waaay to long... ha ha,&quot; he tried to explain.

I just got off the phone with the vet and he&#39;s not happy with the color or quantity of Henry&#39;s new snottiness, either. Henry comes off the antibiotic
tomorrow, and the vet&#39;s going to see him on Thursday to see how his system has reacted to being off it, as well as to examine (and possibly culture?) the
some of the goop that&#39;s terrorizing him.

			<description><![CDATA[ I think he&#39;s on the mend!  For three nights he&#39;s slept without suffering from coughing fits and he&#39;s coughing much, much less during the day (only
1 or 2 times all day yesterday <img src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif">).  He&#39;s still pretty snotty, but not nearly as bad as Saturday morning.  I&#39;m going to talk to the vet today to give
him an update, and I plan to mention the possibility of having his mucus cultured to see if there are any clues there as... ]]></description>

He&#39;s been on an antibiotic for almost a week now -- two doses of Clarimox every day.  We actually finish up the regimen that the vet prescribed on Tuesday
morning. The vet said the antibiotics were mostly preventative, to keep him from coming down with pneumonia (or at least that was my understanding...).  He
hasn&#39;t said anything about a respiratory infection, though, which is a little troubling.

			<description><![CDATA[ Dogs don&#39;t really get colds like we do - but does sound like a nasty respiratory infection. Hanging around for a month seems odd to me - I would definitely
recommend having this solved by your veterinarian.

Does he have noisey breathing while he is asleep??

Just wanted to mention, if you aren&#39;t sure he&#39;s hydrated enough it&#39;s better to be safe than sorry. Dehydration can take dogs down pretty quickly,
so if you have any questions at all this weekend take him to the vet or e-vet.

I am picturing him with his clogged nose and I really feel for him... never fun for us, surely not for dogs.

			<description><![CDATA[ Just so you know, Vicks makes a great vaporizer for under or around $20 (been a while since I bought one, sorry).  I&#39;ve never added the actual Vicks
medication, just salt to get the vapor going.  It really works well.
