There's a rescue in Toronto I've never really known what to make of... the premise seems to be that they are importing greek street dogs, pretty much. If I search a bit I find that Athens has a large population of stray and sometimes multi-generation stray dogs wandering around. When I look at the listings, it's very random. I've been trying to figure out if there is some kind of screening, or if they're working with a shelter over there, or if they're just randomly...

I like my local shelter - it's a new facility, great runs for the animals, a strong community presence - but there's one thing they do that drives me crazy: their animal write-ups write in the "voice" of the animal. Although being up front is *far* preferable to hiding things, there's gotta be a better way than:

1) putting the dog's name as "Puddles"...

2) including the phrase "Oh, I'll still bite the vet if I get the chance, but..."

3) being too ironic, ie: "Princess Peekaboo" can't be around small children...

Any come to your mind?

So I'm listening to swap and shop yesterday on my ride in to work and this woman comes on. " I have some dogs I gotta get rid of- ones a 3yr old Pomeranian, spaded, one's a 3mo old dashund. and the other one's a 5yr old Chihuahua" I spelled the way she said things. I just want to go get them, and then try to find them homes. As it is Boscoroni spends 70% of his life with my Mom with the hours I'm working now, so I absolutely can't....but I want to.
