I help with the puppy classes. The classes are a mix of to-be-service-dogs in the first year and public dogs (about 8 on any given night). Since service puppies come in at different times (they are donated or shelter dogs...not bred by the facility), it is rolling enrollment from week to week. Normally this would not be an issue, I would muzzle the dog regardless. But this dog is 110 lbs. and has a history of aggression. The owner failed to inform me of any collar problems. As far as I knew he was only a resource guarder.

Or a big German Shepherd whose owner tells you about how protective he is of his house (even guards it from teenage girls), but will be okay when he is in someone else's territory (ie: the shop)? Luckily, this dog was a self-serve, or I might have been hesitant to take him.

Has anyone else seen this in their shelters?

We had a case in Lubbock of adog that bled and they susecpted poisoning, then had 9 more cases...testing showed this was the cause.

This is always a really fun group and the events range from breed info to running groups of dogs to an hour of horsework on video and how those principles can be applied to understanding and working with dogs. Love doing these!

I had three signed up but one of them was too young at only 6 weeks old. So now we are back down to two. I know that things will pick up and the first class is always the hardest to fill, but does anyone think that I should cancel this one and try again for a later date?

I'm at the height of vacation season with my pet sitting clients. 2 of them, I am caring for sick, older pets. One of my clients booked me in an emergency. (her Dad passed away).
