Dog Camp/Training Venue Idea - Input?

We live on a farm in VT. One day I was thinking about all of the dog sports I could do here - we have fields and woods for tracking, we have flat areas that could be fenced for agility, a pond for retrieving etc. This made me wonder if there would be a market for offering my farm to trainers to use for training events.

-Plenty of room. Attractive setting.
-Reasonable drive from NY, Boston, all points in New England, really.
-Mix of fields and woods. Woods portion has...

We're trying to come up with clicker class ideas for our Halloween class. We're planning to have our students be creative and clicker train (mostly through shaping) a Halloween behavior...our Trick and Treat class. The class has rolling enrollment, so we will pair up more advanced students with newer ones (particularly the ones who are clicker-resistant). Heavens! SO many of them! I'm grateful that they need grooming as they help pay my bills.

I also groomed a Barbet recently. (I had to look that one up--- and yes, it really was one.) It looked like, you guessed it, a variation of a Doodle. It is actually owned by a local Labradoodle breeder.

And I have a Bernese/Standard Poodle cross. He's massive and has a coat that only Wonder Woman would have a shot at maintaining at...

I went to a neighborhood "block party" kind of thing today, where I had a table set up to advertise my training services. I had a fair amount of interest, which was nice, but one lady stayed with me. She has a maltese-yorkie mix who is a year old and not housebroken. She is very frustrated with the dog and wants to get rid of her, but she said her daughter would be devastated. Basically, the problem is that this dog has too much freedom and is left to roam the house...

Doing a 30 day board and train with a dog that comes from www.mycockapoofriends.com

The dog looks much like this one, straight hair and looks more like a shelti mix than anything. Her behavior is just so energetic she can hardly contain herself, difficult to train to say the least and I'll be returning her to an owner in her 80's.

Have you guys ever seen cockapoo's that look like this?

Emotional Congruence

I have heard Sarah say many times that dogs are congruent -- action can only be consistent with their emotional state and vice versa. Humans are not emotionally congruent, (although I am wondering what kind of effects that has on our mind-body systems - it seems that would be energetically taxing and maybe even confusing.) I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts/opinions/knowledge about how our incongruence effects dogs. Can they tell we are feeling one way but acting another or do they...

Here's Kaliedescope. She's a beauty, but...she came to the cat center as a kitten. She would scratch, bite and go after other cats. So many people wanted her but boy was she nasty! We worked hard with her and she finally came around. A lovely couple adopted her this week. Success!

Leather prongs?

Has anyone run into these? One of the dogs in agility last week had a green one on...at first I couldn't quite decide what it was then asked her...I thought it might be one of the new Neck Techs but it was the traditional small prong with leather woven in and is herm sprenger.

I thought the look might tone it down for the public and can see where the clip might be easier for many people to connect and disconnect. Just wondered if any of this interfered with the way...

Here's the collar I mentioned at the Difficult Dog seminar. I like the look of it, but a poster at Leerburg informed me that HS isn't completely satisfied with it and that they are reworking it. I also heard from someone who heard from someone that the collar is "noisy."

I got an email I was suspicious of a few weeks back, showed it to Sarah and Becky. Becky got a similar one, and I've gotten a couple since.

This came today:

It has come to our attention that an email is being circulated to dog

Back from CO and still processing everything. I'm really bummed I didn't get to see the Longmont shelter facility, but it's obvious that Aimee is doing incredible work.

Sarah and Brian were unbelievable. The amount of WORK and planning that went into that weekend - I can only imagine! And all came off without a hitch, at least as far as this attendee saw!

Watching Sarah and Brian work a dog is a gift. It's like a dance. I've only gotten to see...

Someone had a new bloodhound puppy and was looking into SAR. What's the latest??? Any updates on the puppy? Pictures?

I believe someone asked a few questions that went unanswered. My Jack would have been a real nasty boy in the wrong home, imo. He's a love, but he'll still try to be tough. Yesterday he had a chewie and I came near him and he growled his big deep scary growl and then even made a louder...

My dogwalking client (w/ the minpin/jrt x) started an obedience class (her second) this week.

She's a sweet, fun person and I can tell she's worked very hard with her dog...who has probably not been the easiest guy in the world to train.

We were chatting on the phone and I asking her how things went at class. "He (her dog) did great," she said, "but I got reprimanded".

Why?

"Because I was laughing....
