New England got a tiny bit of reprieve from the rain this afternoon --- just in time for Finn and Lucy and their driver to arrive at their final destination on the New England Tour. There was a bit of a preview in Foto Friday, but here are some more....

Finn checking to make sure that the resident hounds got rid of all the vermin. Any squirrels up this tree?

I came home this afternoon to potty the pups and find Bella's left eye has a swollen lower eyelid. I poke around gently to see if I can see anything. It isn't watery or red, but definitely swollen. I call up our vet's office hoping to get squeezed in today, before the long weekend. Not only do they tell me to bring her right in, but they don't charge me for the office visit! Her eyeball was not scratched, so he's guessing that either she got into a bug or some other...

The potential adopters of Placido loved him but are not sure that they really want a second dog. I really do not want Placido to get the boot again so I'm not trying to "sell" him to folks who aren't sure. For a bit there it seemed like he might be going to a new home this weekend. I was really trying to look at the bright side of that but am now very selfishly enjoying the bright side of it not working out.

Whatever will be will be....

I hadnt realised there was such need for blood transfusions in animals until Freddie was sick, then the vet mentioned that he could possibly need one because his anaemia was so bad. It had me thinking that it'd be great if there was an animal blood bank the same as for us.
While i was in the vets office with Oscar getting his vaccination i noticed a flyer for a new pet blood bank (it's a relatively new concept here in the uk), the dog bank has been running for a while now and...

Now... if you wanted to clean up his send - let him see you putting a piece of kibble in the crate.

Then move him away and send him - follow through as you have been.

That should create enough of a pull to the crate to lessen the spinning and pausing (torn between leaving you- the source of the rewards and going to the crate).

Do that a few times and then fake put on in - then do it randomly and within a session or two you...

On our drive out to the barn where we board my daughters horse we pass a house that keeps English Bulldogs in those horrible raised pens.
The pens are Aprox.6ft x 3ft with a wire mesh floor and an attatched wooden box......looks like a giant rabbit hutch.
This disturbed me every time but when I saw 4 adult dogs in one pen I called our local humane league.

You must remember I live in Lancaster County PA...

The only change I saw was much bigger heavy crock like...

We are petsitting our friends older extremely obese Lab for a couple of weeks and I was having nightmares about it, least of which was how would we even get her into our car to bring her to our place, she is so overweight. Then there's her health problems, her medication and her separation anxiety and my goodness, what if she up and dies on us - I'd be devastated. They allow her to "pre-wash" the dishes in the dishwasher, feed her anything that is leftover from any...

Rare Garden Bison Sighting

A little known animal, the Garden Bison is a small creature, with funny ears for a Bison. The fur pattern is the same though. I managed to wrangle one in my yard today as it was trying to steal my tomatoes. It was hard ropin' that critter, but I did it.

This is the most fur Maggie has had...

We are starting to look for a good home or foster for the cat we now call 'Blue.' He will of course not be handed over until his condition has greatly improved. Just throwing it out there to see if anyone in Florida is looking for a lovable male siamese mix companion. Sorry guys no photo's yet! Both batteries are dead and I have misplaced the charger. Can you believe it!

So since I was out with kidlet all day yesterday, my mom had the doggers.
She dropped them off mid-afternoon, and I got home early evening. Little did I know she'd left them (in usual spots: Dezi-kennel, Russ-kennel, Tai-loose in my room) with disgusting raw bone things. (note that I despise the smell of raw meat - I could never tell you if chicken has gone bad because I think it smells horrendous anyway. Cooking meat, same thing, I can't stand it. Only when it's cooked is it...

Hard to believe that it is next week already. My middle DD and I are going along with 10 other folks.
